2022’s Highlights for Esports Fans

Despite the effect the past two years have had on social interactions and public gatherings, 2022 still looks to be an exciting year for fans of esports. However, esports tournaments and gatherings could take place in person in the coming year. Let’s take a look at some of the esports highlights fans can look forward to in 2022.

League of Legends

League of Legends (LoL) is the biggest esports in the world, growing at a fast rate since as recently as 2020. The League of Legends World Championship is set to take place later this year for its 12th run. Tournaments are intended for New York City (NYC), Mexico, San Francisco, and Toronto. The Asian Games

In September, the Asian Games will host esports games for the first time in Hangzhou, China. There will be eight games held, for:

  • Arena of Valor (Asian Games version)
  • Dota 2
  • League of Legends
  • Dream Three Kingdoms 2
  • Hearthstone
  • Street Fighter V

Teams competing in each of these games will stand to win a bronze, silver, or gold medal.


DreamHack is set to take place in Sweden in the summertime, hosting the ESL Pro League Conference, among others. This festival allows communities to connect through a variety of immersive gaming experiences and the celebration of esports tournaments.
