If you are a normal windows 10 user, then you doesn’ have any idea about What Is The Windows Experience Index. They don’t know which sort of hardware they need to update if they experience performance issues. To make all of this a bit easier, Microsoft introduced the Windows Experience Indicator with the launch of Windows Vista.

The indicator shows a score of Windows experience based on your system hardware. The resulting base score provides you with an idea how well your system will perform and what you will need to upgrade your system.

What Exactly Is the Windows Experience Indicator?

The Windows Experience Indicator is a tool to measure your computer’s performance, based on its hardware and software. This tool will measure CPU, RAM, or GPU.

The Windows Experience Index (WEI) score was first introduced with Windows Vista as we mentioned above and it is a benchmarking tool inside Windows OS to supply a score of your hardware and softwares.

In Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, Windows Experience Indicator could be retrieved by right-clicking on desktop > Properties. The idea is, every time you upgrade your system, you can calculate WEI score of your computer, and you can purchase the one that corresponded to your Windows Experience Indicator score to get the best performance.

Some high-end video games are using WEI score as minimum requirements. Still, many users do not refer to the base score of WEI before installing applications.

Microsoft continues supplying the indicator score in Windows 7 as well as Windows 8 but it’s been removed from Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. But still, you can use a cmd command to test.

As we mentioned above, WEI isn’t visible in Windows 10 as it runs the benchmark automatically and scores saved in a local file in %WINDIR%\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore folder.

The final number is WEI score. Now, this method is little hard to use. There is one freeware that you can use. Just download ExperienceIndexOK (48KB) > unzip it > Run it and wait until it displays your score.
