League of Legends Worlds Championships 2023

Venue: South Korea

Dates: To be confirmed

This competition will continue to be the pinnacle of the League of Legends competition in 2023. This year, however, there is a significant change to the format. South Korea will host the thirteenth edition of the World Championship in 2023.

On January 10 and 11, 2023, players from nine leagues participated in the two-day Season 2023 Kickoff event. Three stages comprise the League of Legends World Championships: Play-ins \sSwiss \sKnockouts

The play-ins begin with eight lower-ranked teams, with the top two advancing to the next round. This second stage is completely redesigned for 2023, with 16 teams playing up to five games of matches in a Swiss format, where teams with the same win-loss record compete against each other until achieving either three wins or three losses.

After the Swiss round concludes, eight teams advance to the Knockout stage, a single-elimination bracket of a best-of-five series. It continues throughout the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Final until a World Champion is crowned.
