Dear Jonny90 On our first prototype site we stated that the product would help you 'say words right' - instead of 'say words correctly' - this is because the site was written in simple, informal language and 'correctly' would have sounded overly formal in that context. We no longer use that wording and have not done so for since the end of 2008. More up to date discussions about Learn10 can be found at www.getsatisfaction.com/learn10.
The 'gobledegook' sentences are part of our ongoing competition to use all 10 of the daily words in a grammatically correct sentence of under 135 characters in length.
Nic, as a Prague based English teacher asked to check this out by one of my Czech students I must say that adverbs and adjectives are a fundamental part of learning English as a spoken (or written or understood) language. If you dismiss grammar so easily you will not win over the Slavs - they need rules, they need grammar! Also there is a load of gobbledegook "Like us, bugs like to position their property, double it enough to mark, not let it burn. Only a forward insect ran from the flat." Can you tell me what this means? I cannot recommend this service yet, shame it looks like a tremendous idea.
Jon

Pedant, this is less about adjectives versus adverbs and more about English as a spoken language.Pages: 2 — « First ‹ Previous 1 2 Next › Last »
