At the heart of global warming is the problem of rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere. This widget from CO2Now.org lets us know whether we are doing enough to bring CO2 levels down and
…
actually solve the causes of global warming and climate change.
The CO2 information is updated monthly by CO2Now.org when the latest high precision measurements of atmospheric CO2 are reported for the Mauna Loa Observatory by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the USA.
Good suggestions / paper. The long term range for atmospheric CO2 (800,000 years +) is 180 to 300 parts per million (ppm). According to James Hansen, Head of the NASA Goddard Institute, in an April 2008 paper, we passed the ceiling for safe CO2 in 1988 when CO2 surpassed 350 ppm. Glad you like the tool. Further improvements will be made as time goes on. Be sure to check out http://co2now.org
I think this is a great tool. Suggestion: For a point of referenece...if you can add text that explains published research has shown a level considered dangerous is 450 ppb and pre-industrial levels were at 280 ppb. See http://www.eponline.com/articles/67730?recipid%3B=
Also, when I click on "Click CO2 Now" the page doesn't scroll. I think there an option in the settings to allow for this.
