Boise Weekly is Idaho’s only alternative. In a largely politically conservative state, we cover local news, environmental issues, arts, outdoor recreation and opinions from the middle of the road to the bike lanes on both sides. In recent months, our news stories have been picked up by national publications ranging from Playboy to The Progressive. Our fine arts magazine, Idaho Arts Quarterly, provides unique coverage and arts listings for the entire state, and our recreational reporting gives our readers a window into one of the premiere skiing, mountain biking, kayaking and fishing locations in North America. Boise has seen tremendous growth in the last decade. Our reasonable housing costs, wealth of technological employers and scenic valley location within hours of the Sawtooth Mountains, Sun Valley, the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone National Park and the Owyhee Desert continue to draw thousands of new residents from around the world. With this influx have come clashes over social issues, land use and the inevitable growing pains of an ever-expanding political spectrum. Boise Weekly’s mission has always been to challenge the status quo and shine a light on viewpoints that might otherwise have no venue in Idaho. Now in our 18th year as Boise’s alternative newspaper, Boise Weekly continues to challenge and stimulate our faithful readership.
